How Hub360 Helped Monaghan County Council Account for Every Load on Its Award‑Winning Low‑Carbon Road Works

Monaghan County Council has won the Local Authority Energy Decarbonisation Award at the 2026 LAMA All Ireland Community & Council Awards for its innovative use of low‑carbon road maintenance techniques. The award recognises the Council’s pioneering use of cold‑mix reclaimed asphalt (RAP) to strengthen the road network, cut carbon emissions and support Ireland’s national climate action goals.

As part of this work, Monaghan County Council, supported by Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Department of Transport, used Hub360 on the N2 project to digitally track material movements and underpin circular‑economy practices. Hub360 enabled live tracking of construction and demolition material from the roadside to a quarry or holding area and, after processing, back to the final reinstatement location, with every truck movement logged through geo‑tagged photos, timestamps and locations.

This digital oversight provided real‑time visibility of actual versus estimated tonnages, supported compliance reporting and generated CO₂ estimations linked to material transport. Combined with Monaghan’s innovative RAP surfacing approach, the project demonstrates how data, materials innovation and strong partnerships can work together to deliver lower‑carbon, high‑quality road rehabilitation.

Hub360 is proud to support Monaghan County Council and its partners in delivering transparent, circular road projects that align with national climate and resource‑efficiency goals. You can read the full Monaghan case study here: https://www.hub360.ie/monaghan-county-council.
